Laboratory facilities

The CVD-Mali Clinical Microbiology and Molecular Biology Laboratory has excellent facilities and experienced staff for the conduct of microbiology, molecular biology and tissue culture. The laboratory operates from two main locations (CVD-Mali headquarters and Hôpital Gabriel Touré).

Our laboratory is able to offer a variety of services from basic research in microbiology and molecular biology to large epidemiological studies, clinical trial intervention and routine clinical diagnosis, at the Hôpital Gabriel Touré.

internationally-accredited lab facilities

The CVD-Mali microbiology and molecular biology laboratory is registered with and participates in the World Health Organization’s External Quality Assurance Program (WHO EQAP). It has International Air Transport Association (IATA) accreditation and IATA certified personnel to conduct both local and international shipments of biological samples.

The CVD-Mali laboratory also has capacity for temporary and long-term storage of biological samples at ‐20°C and ‐80°C with a constant electricity supply. The cold chain storage facility is monitored 24 hours a day and seven days a week by the electrical and refrigeration unit at the Center. The laboratory also has an efficient laboratory information management system for barcode generation, sample labelling, storage and tracking.
