Dr Awa Traoré has a Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Perugia (Italy) and previously served as assistant pharmacy manager at the Elhadj-Malick Sy Pharmacy in Senegal. From 2002 to 2004 she managed SODIPHARM, the society for drug distribution, in Bamako.

As Head of the Immunology Department and Laboratory at CVD-Mali, since 2008, Dr Traore has participated in and supervised many of the institution’s projects. During the 2014 ebola outbreak in Mali, she was responsible for organizing logistic support for the collection, reception, testing, storage and shipping of positive and suspected case samples.

Dr Traore is a member of the Malian Association of Women Pharmacists, AFEPHAR.
